
Pilates Weight Training
Join Michele via Zoom for a series of progressive classes designed for individuals who want to protect and enjoy the physical ability to play, travel and live fully. Each workout follows a specific sequence of low-impact movements to help you build lean muscle, increase joint mobility, improve posture and boost overall stability and body awareness.
We use bodyweight, light-to-medium hand weights and resistance bands to target major muscle groups, emphasizing core stabilization to improve alignment, balance and coordination. Basic movement patterns required for daily tasks such as sit-to-stand, squatting, walking, stair climbing, reaching overhead, getting on and off the floor and carrying heavy objects will load your bones and muscles progressively. If you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, you will benefit from strengthening your body while minimizing bone fracture risk. Modifications are offered so that you can adjust exercises to your fitness level.
What is included:
- A series of 4 one-hour classes that stream “live” on Tuesdays from 11:00am – 12:00pm (EST / EDT)
- Class recording replay access available following each live-streamed class
What you will need:
- Body Resistance Loop
- Flex-Band* or other 6-foot long light-weight resistance band
- Small or medium Mini Stability Ball
- Dumbbells or other light to heavy hand weights from 1lb to 15lbs
- A chair with a back and firm seat
- Yoga block
- A workout mat and towels for bolstering
